Amman, Dec. 17 (Petra) — The Public Security Directorate (PSD) has called on citizens to remain vigilant and adopt safe practices as an intense wave of Siberian-origin cold air grips the Kingdom starting Wednesday morning.

The PSD advised the public to avoid valleys, flood-prone areas, and low-lying terrain, particularly in southern regions, including the Southern Jordan Valley and Aqaba, warning against attempting to cross flooded roads either on foot or by vehicle.

Drivers were urged to remain cautious as limited snowfall may occur during morning hours, sometimes mixed with rain, while wet road conditions could increase the risk of accidents.

The Directorate also highlighted the importance of using heating appliances responsibly, stressing the dangers of refueling heaters while in operation or leaving them running during sleep. Proper ventilation was emphasized as essential to prevent the buildup of hazardous gases indoors.

Citizens were further warned of reduced visibility caused by fog and possible frost formation, especially late at night and during early morning hours in high mountainous areas and parts of the Badia.

The Public Security Directorate encouraged the public to stay updated through official weather reports and to contact the unified emergency number (911) whenever assistance is required.
