Amman, Jan. 9 (Petra)– The Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing for Technical Affairs, Jamal Qutishat, announced the activation of the ministry’s medium-level emergency plan, effective from Friday morning until Saturday evening, based on weather reports issued by the Jordan Meteorological Department.
Qutishat said the decision comes as the Kingdom is being affected by a weather depression accompanied by rainfall and a high likelihood of flash floods in several areas.
He noted that the emergency plan may be escalated to higher levels if necessary, depending on assessments made by public works directors in the field and in line with evolving weather conditions.
He added that field teams will carry out regular inspections of roads, culverts, and water channels, and will take all necessary measures to ensure public safety and maintain traffic flow.
Qutishat emphasized that all reports, observations, and emergency cases will be handled immediately, in accordance with approved procedures and the emergency plans in place.
