Mogadishu, October 21 (QNA) – Qatar Charity has opened the Sheikh Eid bin Mohammed Al-Thani Health Center in Jarsabali district, Banadir region, Somalia, to provide healthcare services to around 50,000 residents and displaced people.
The 2,000-square-meter center includes maternity, emergency and isolation units, radiology, medical laboratories, vaccination services and a pharmacy. It is also equipped with solar power to ensure uninterrupted services.
Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein praised the support provided by the State of Qatar and Qatar Charity to the Somali people.
He said the Center was a valuable addition to the region’s health infrastructure and would improve the standard of healthcare while easing the hardship of thousands of families that previously lacked access to nearby medical services.
He added that the project represented a successful model of humanitarian and development cooperation, expressing appreciation for Qatar Charity’s role in supporting vital sectors, particularly health, education and social services.
The opening is part of Qatar Charity’s health projects in Banadir. The organization recently performed 40 cardiac catheterization procedures on children with congenital heart defects and is preparing to launch Somalia’s first open-heart surgery campaign. (QNA)
