Doha, August 26 (QNA) – The State of Qatar strongly condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ storming of the Qalandiya Training Center run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), in occupied East Jerusalem, considering it a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and a flagrant challenge to international will.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that Israel’s systematic targeting of UNRWA ultimately aims to dismantle the agency and deprive millions of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon of its essential services. It stressed the need for the international community to fulfill its responsibilities by taking immediate action to protect UNRWA facilities and firmly confront Israel’s illegal actions in order to avert their catastrophic consequences.
The Ministry reiterated the State of Qatar’s full support for UNRWA, based on its unwavering position in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them their right to establish their independent state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. (QNA)
