Geneva, July 23 (QNA) – The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MOECC), participated in the meetings of the Scientific Committee of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), held in Geneva, Switzerland. Representatives of the States Parties, international organizations, and experts from various countries also participated.

Director of the Wildlife Development Department at MOECC, Khalid Al Mohannadi headed the Ministry’s delegation to the meetings.

The delegation participated in discussions on several scientific and technical topics related to the protection of endangered species, strengthening the mechanisms for implementing the Convention, reviewing proposals for the listing of species, and discussing ways to develop supporting scientific evidence.

Participation in these meetings reflects the State of Qatar’s commitment to supporting international efforts aimed at conserving biodiversity and enhancing cooperation with States Parties and international organizations, thereby contributing to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and preserving natural resources for future generations.
