Doha, August 19 (QNA) – Qatar Sports Club announced today that it has signed Icelandic midfielder Aron Gunnarsson from Al Gharafa to strengthen its first football team ahead of the 2026-2027 season.
In a post on its official X account, the club shared a photo of the player and welcomed him to the squad as preparations continue for the challenges of the new season. The club did not disclose the value of the deal or the length of the contract.
Gunnarsson joined Al Gharafa from Al Arabi at the start of the 2024-2025 season and featured in several league and Amir Cup 2025 matches. He made four appearances in the tournament and helped the team win the title, securing Al Gharafa direct qualification for the 2025-2026 AFC Champions League Elite.
Qatar SC will begin its Doha Bank Stars League campaign against Al Wakrah tomorrow at Lusail Stadium in the opening round of the competition. (QNA)
