Port Sudan, August 8, 2026 (SUNA) — Wali of Red Sea State Lt. Gen. Mustafa Mohamed Nour honored Egyptian Ambassador to Sudan Hany Salah Mustafa on Saturday, marking the end of his tenure and his appointment as Assistant Foreign Minister for Sudan and South Sudan Affairs.At a ceremony organized by Anqara Center for Press Services in Port Sudan, the Wali said relations between Sudan and Egypt go far beyond the conventional concept of neighboring countries, noting that Egypt has remained the primary refuge for Sudanese before and throughout the war.He described the continued operation of the Egyptian Embassy and its staff from Port Sudan as a historic milestone reflecting the strength of bilateral ties.Ambassador Hany Salah highlighted key milestones in Sudan-Egypt cooperation and announced a package of future initiatives, including special EgyptAir fares for residents of Red Sea State, a proposed railway link between Aswan and Abu Hamad, expanded electricity interconnection, a one-million-housing project, and the rehabilitation of the Halfaya and Shambat bridges.Sudanese Foreign Ministry Representative Ambassador Onur Ahmed praised Egypt for hosting Sudanese and providing healthcare and education services, expressing hopes for deeper strategic cooperation between the two countries.The ceremony concluded with the Wali honoring the Egyptian ambassador, who was also recognized by a number of community organizations and institutions.BH/BH
