Cairo, July 2 (Petra) – Arab, Islamic, and regional organizations meeting in Cairo on Wednesday issued an urgent appeal to halt the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

The Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the African Union said the Israeli occupation forces’ actions in Gaza are “a genocide of full proportions”, requiring immediate international intervention to halt it.

The organizations strongly condemned the occupation army’s use of starvation and blockade as a weapon against civilians, demanding safe, adequate, and sustainable access of humanitarian aid into Gaza and warning that the strip could become unlivable.

They said relief for the Palestinian people is a non-negotiable human right, dismissing the current aid distribution mechanism, which has turned into a killing ground for starved civilians and humanitarian workers.

The organizations expressed categorical rejection of any plan to displace the Palestinian people from their land as “a grave crime” under international law and voiced full support for an Arab-Islamic plan for early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza.

They called for an independent and neutral international commission of inquiry to investigate all violations in Gaza, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide, and apportion individual and collective legal responsibility.

The regional organizations also called for enabling UNRWA to carry out its vital and unhindered role in Gaza, expressing rejection of attempts to undermine its role, and urging support of the refugee agency politically, financially, and legally.
