Amman, May 24 (Petra) – In celebration of the 79th anniversary of the independence of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Royal Hashemite Documentation Center (RHDC) unveiled a rare historical document dating back to 1928, detailing the first official Independence Day celebration in the Emirate of Transjordan.

According to an RHDC statement issued Saturday, the document, revealed for the first time, outlines the official program and ceremonial aspects of the event, which was organized at the time by the Ajloun Governorate.

The RHDC noted that the document reflects the deep national symbolism of independence and highlights the strong connection between the leadership and the people during a defining period in Jordan’s modern history.

The unveiling of this document is part of the RHDC’s ongoing efforts to preserve Jordan’s national memory and document the historical milestones that shaped the country’s political and social development.

Jordan’s first declaration of independence came on May 25, 1923, when the British government formally recognized the independence of the Emirate of Transjordan under the leadership of Emir Abdullah bin Al-Hussein, may his soul rest in peace.

On this day, Jordanians reaffirm their pride in their storied history and recall the nation-building journey begun by their forefathers, guided by wise leadership, in pursuit of a prosperous future for generations to come.
