Romania Summons Russian ambassador Over Drone Crash into Apartment building
Bucharest, May 29 (QNA) – Romania summoned the Russian ambassador to Bucharest today after a drone crashed into an apartment building in the country, injuring two people.
Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Toiu said in a post on the X platform that her country would officially inform the Russian ambassador of the repercussions of this “irresponsible act” on diplomatic relations between the two countries.
She added that Romania would also discuss at the European level the next steps regarding the sanctions package imposed on Russia, describing the incident as “very serious.”
Earlier today, Romanian authorities announced that two people were injured when a drone crashed into an apartment building in the southeastern city of Galati during an attack launched by Russia last night on neighboring Ukraine.
The Romanian Ministry of Defense stated that the drone crashed onto the roof of a ten-story apartment building, causing an explosion and a fire. Fire and rescue teams rushed to the scene to control the blaze and evacuate residents.
Romania, a member of NATO and the European Union, shares a land border of approximately 650 kilometers with Ukraine. (QNA)
