Amman, July 16 (Petra) – The Royal Hashemite Documentation Center unveiled a historical document on Wednesday to mark the 56th anniversary of the official launch of the Jordan News Agency (Petra), which dates back to July 16, 1969.
In a statement, the center said the document is page 802 of the Official Gazette and contains the Royal Decree approving the “Amended Bylaw for the Administration of the Ministry of Information.” The decree opens with the formal royal preamble: “We, Hussein bin Talal, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan “
The center noted that this royal phrasing underscores the constitutional authority and formality in the issuance of laws and regulations at the time. It also reflects the institutional foundation upon which the Jordan News Agency later officially referred to as “Petra” was established.
