Russia Begins Military Exercises with Yars Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles Moscow, 25 Mar (ONA) —- The Russian Ministry of Defense announced
that its forces have begun military exercises involving
intercontinental ballistic missiles.
The ministry said in a statement carried by TASS news agency that
the Yars mobile ground-based nuclear missile launchers will be
deployed to field sites as part of a scheduled training exercise for
Russia’s Strategic Rocket Forces.
The statement added that formations in the Sverdlovsk and Altai
regions are scheduled to conduct command and staff exercises during
which Yars intercontinental ballistic missiles will be transferred to
field positions.
Military units will also perform engineering support, radiation,
chemical and biological protection tasks during the exercises.
The Yars missile is capable of carrying nuclear warheads and can
be transported on trucks or placed in underground missile launchers.—- Ends/Khalid
