Moscow, August 26 (QNA) – Russian authorities said Wednesday that two people were killed after a Ukrainian drone crashed into a private home in the Lipetsk region, sparking a fire, while another drone attack triggered a fire at a logistics center in the neighboring Tambov region.

Lipetsk Governor Igor Artamonov said in a post on X that a fire broke out at a private residence in the Lipetsk region after a drone crashed into it, killing two people, a man and a 14-year-old boy. Two women were also injured and were receiving medical treatment, he added.

In the neighboring Tambov region, a Ukrainian drone attack sparked a fire at a logistics center operated by e-commerce company Wildberries, according to regional governor Yevgeny Pervyshov. The blaze spread across an area of about 40,000 square meters, he said.

Pervyshov said employees were evacuated from the logistics center after air-raid sirens sounded, but one worker sustained minor injuries.

He also said that a fire broke out at a private country house after a Ukrainian drone crashed in one of the region’s districts, adding that Russian air defenses had shot down 16 Ukrainian drones over Tambov during the overnight attack.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced Wednesday that its air defense systems had intercepted 426 Ukrainian drones overnight over several regions.

Russia and Ukraine have reported near-daily drone attacks and battlefield developments since Russia launched its military operation in Ukraine in February 2022. Claims by either side about battlefield developments and attacks cannot be independently verified due to the ongoing hostilities. (QNA)
