Amman, May 27 (Petra) – The Jordanian-Tunisian Brotherhood Committee in the Senate, chaired by Senator Ihsan Barakat, met on Tuesday with Tunisian Ambassador to Jordan Mufida Zaribi to discuss ways to bolster bilateral ties and coordinate on regional developments.

Barakat affirmed that Jordanian-Tunisian relations are deeply rooted and longstanding, constituting a model of mutual respect and cooperation, driven by the leadership of the two nations. She highlighted the alignment of positions on several regional issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, stressing the need for intensified efforts to reach a solution and to halt the Israeli war on Gaza.

She underscored the depth of ties between the two peoples and emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in economic, parliamentary, cultural, and tourism fields. Barakat also praised Tunisia’s legislative framework, particularly in advancing women’s empowerment.

For her part, Ambassador Zaribi, accompanied by Deputy Head of Mission Mohamed Ali Benhabib, reiterated the strength of Jordanian-Tunisian relations and called for deepening parliamentary cooperation, maintaining coordination, and encouraging mutual visits to exchange legislative expertise and best practices in governance contributing to development across sectors.

Zaribi extended congratulations to Jordan’s leadership and people on the Kingdom’s 79th Independence Day, commending Jordan’s key role, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, in advancing peace efforts in the region. She reaffirmed Tunisia’s appreciation of His Majesty’s steadfast position and his custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, under the historic Hashemite mandate.
