Amman, May 27 (Petra) — Senate President Faisal Fayez held a meeting with a delegation from the Parkinson’s Patient Care Association to explore ways to improve health services for Parkinson’s patients across the Kingdom.

According to a statement issued by the association on Tuesday, the meeting was also attended by Senator Issa Murad, head of the Senate’s Labor and Social Development Committee.

During the discussion, the delegation provided an overview of the association’s journey since its inception, highlighting ongoing efforts to serve Parkinson patients and the daily challenges they face.

They emphasised the need to develop and expand health services to better meet patients’ needs.

The delegation expressed a vision to establish Jordan’s first specialised centre for Parkinson’s patients, calling for support from the National Assembly, including both the Senate and the House of Representatives, to facilitate this initiative.

They proposed enacting a dedicated law, dubbed the “Parkinson’s Law,” to create a legislative framework that regulates services for patients and guarantees their rights, aligning with international best practices.

Fayez appreciated the association’s dedicated efforts and expressed interest in their proposals. He assured that he would review the suggestions, coordinate with relevant authorities and work towards improving the quality of life for Parkinson’s patients.

The delegation, led by Association President Khalil Abu Laban, included Deputy Yousef Azizi and Executive Director Ayman Balbisi.
