Social Development Ministry Detects 67 Cases of Unlicensed Fundraising
Activities in 2025
Muscat, 9 Mar 2026 (ONA) — The
Ministry of Social Development said that 67 cases of unlicensed fundraising worth
RO 30,000 were detected in different governorates of the Sultanate of Oman in
2025. Muscat Governorate had the largest number of cases of unlicensed
fundraising (about 20 cases), while South A’Sharqiyah Governorate did not register
any cases of unauthorized fundraising.
The Ministry of Social Development
affirmed it would continue to shoulder its responsibility of regulating the
process of fundraising from members of the public in accordance with a related
bylaw issued by Ministerial Resolution No. (336/2024). The bylaw sets clear-cut
legal guidelines that ensure the legitimacy of fund donation campaigns. The overall
objective is to safeguard public funds against exploitation.
