Amman, Dec. 17 (Petra) — The Southern Military Zone on Tuesday evening thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotic substances into Jordan using an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) along its western border, within its area of responsibility.
According to a military statement, the operation was carried out in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, after Border Guard Forces detected the drone and applied the approved rules of engagement, resulting in its interception and downing inside Jordanian territory.
The seized narcotics were transferred to the relevant authorities for further legal action.
The Armed Forces reaffirmed their continued readiness to counter all forms of infiltration and smuggling attempts, in coordination with security agencies, to safeguard national security and protect the Kingdom’s borders.
