Spinal Surgery Week Launched in Port Sudan Under Queens Care Hospital Initiative

Port Sudan, Feb. 1, 2026 (SUNA) – Red Sea State on Saturday launched Spinal Surgery Week for Correcting Deformities at Queens Care Hospital in Port Sudan, a move aimed at localizing advanced treatment and easing the burden on patients. The launch was attended by the Wali of Red Sea State, Director General of the Health Sector Dr. Ahlam Abdel-Rasoul, and senior health officials.Dr. Ahlam Abdel-Rasoul said the initiative reflects effective social responsibility and a genuine public–private partnership. She confirmed the successful completion of the first spinal correction surgery, noting that the programme targets 20 complex, high-cost procedures to be provided to citizens amid the country’s challenging conditions.Consultant orthopaedic and spine surgeon Dr. Ayman Ali Al-Tayib described the operations as advanced procedures addressing spinal curvature and torsion, stressing that the initiative demonstrates productive collaboration between private hospitals and the public sector to serve the community.Consultant orthopaedic and spine surgeon Dr. Abdullah Al-Tayib said such surgeries were routinely performed nationwide before the war but declined due to current circumstances.
