Amman, Feb. 2 (Petra) — Jordan is expected to experience stable weather conditions on Sunday, with relatively cold temperatures over the highlands and warmer conditions in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD). High-altitude clouds will appear in southern regions, with light southeasterly winds.
The JMD reported that temperatures will rise slightly on Monday, with relatively cold weather over the high mountain areas and warm conditions in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Medium- and high-altitude clouds are expected, and winds will shift from light southeasterly to northwesterly in the afternoon.
On Tuesday, another slight temperature increase is forecast, with the weather remaining slightly cool over the high mountain areas and warm in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Moderate northwesterly winds are expected.
By Wednesday, Jordan will be gradually affected by a very cold air mass of polar origin, accompanied by a low-pressure system centered over Cyprus. The JMD said this will cause a significant drop in temperatures, with cold and partly cloudy conditions turning overcast later in most areas. Rainfall is expected in the north, extending to central regions, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms. Strong westerly winds, reaching speeds of up to 60 km/h, will generate dust, particularly in desert areas.
During the night, temperatures will continue to drop, and precipitation will extend to most regions. The JMD forecasts periods of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and hail.
According to the JMD, today’s high and low temperatures in various regions are as follows: East Amman: 17-9 C, West Amman: 15-7 C, Northern Highlands: 14-6 C, Sharah Highlands: 15-5 C, Badia regions: 20-5 C, Plains: 18-9 C, Northern Jordan Valley: 25-11 C, Southern Jordan Valley: 27-13 C, Dead Sea: 26-14 C, and Gulf of Aqaba: 26-13 C.
