Baku, June 16, 2026 (SUNA) — State Minister at the Ministry of Finance, Mohamed Nour Abdeldaim, met with the Cairo-based Regional Director of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, Noureddine Mebrouk, on the sidelines of the 51st Annual Meetings of the IsDB Group in Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku. The two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Sudan and the IsDB Group, focusing on several priority issues, including the restructuring of Sudan’s debt to the bank and mechanisms to support the country’s economic recovery and reconstruction efforts. The State Minister underscored the importance of the IsDB Group playing an active role in financing reconstruction and development projects in Sudan, noting the government’s commitment to providing the necessary guarantees and facilities to development partners and donors in order to encourage financing flows and expand development programmes. Discussions also covered the completion and implementation of IsDB-funded projects, particularly Al-Gadarif Water Project and the Atbara and Setit Project, as well as a number of initiatives aimed at improving basic services, upgrading infrastructure, creating employment opportunities, building capacities, and empowering youth. For his part, the IsDB Regional Director reaffirmed the Group’s commitment to continuing cooperation with Sudan and supporting its development agenda. He stressed the importance of sustained coordination to complete ongoing projects and explore new areas of cooperation aligned with the country’s recovery and development priorities. The meeting was part of a series of bilateral engagements held by Sudan’s delegation during the annual meetings to strengthen development partnerships and mobilize support for priority projects during the reconstruction and economic recovery phase.BH/BH
