State Minister of Finance Holds Talks with Islamic Development Bank Group

Jeddah, August 25, 2026 (SUNA) — State Minister at the Ministry of Finance Mohamed Nour Abdeldaim held a high-level meeting on Tuesday with the Executive Vice President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group at the bank’s headquarters in Jeddah, in the presence of a technical delegation from the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS).The meeting discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, particularly ways to strengthen cooperation in priority areas and further develop the longstanding and distinguished relationship between Sudan and the IsDB Group, as well as plans to deepen the partnership during the next phase.Abdeldaim praised the strong cooperation between Sudan and the group and its role in supporting and financing a number of major development projects in Sudan. He stressed the importance of continuing the partnership to support the country’s economic recovery and reconstruction efforts, expressing appreciation for the group’s support to Sudan and emphasizing the need to sustain and expand programs and projects aimed at addressing the economic and development challenges facing the country.The state minister affirmed Sudan’s desire to strengthen its relations with the bank group and work toward resolving its outstanding obligations and arrears, paving the way for the resumption of financing and access to the bank’s services. He said support should be directed toward reconstruction, infrastructure, and priority development projects.For his part, the IsDB Group’s Executive Vice President praised the distinguished relations between Sudan and the group, as well as Sudan’s historic status as one of the bank’s founding members. He underscored the importance of continued cooperation and making greater use of the group’s capabilities and programs to support development in member states.The two sides agreed on a number of practical steps to activate and strengthen cooperation during the coming period and make greater use of the group’s services and programs, particularly in financing development projects, supporting the private sector, expanding programs targeting poor and low-income groups, and strengthening capacity-building initiatives.Both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination among the relevant authorities and follow-up on the issues discussed to translate the understandings reached into projects and programs that support Sudan’s recovery, reconstruction, and development efforts.The state minister is leading a Sudanese delegation comprising officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Sudan in intensive talks with the IsDB Group on settling Sudan’s arrears and resuming the group’s services and anticipated financing for Sudan.Meanwhile, the Director of the IsDB’s Regional Office in Cairo arrived in Jeddah, accompanied by a technical delegation, to participate in the joint talks and follow up on matters related to cooperation between Sudan and the IsDB Group.BH/BH
