Minister of Digital Transformation and Communications, Engineer Ahmed Dirdiri Ghandour, on Friday attended the opening of the China–Africa Digital Technology Cooperation Center in Hangzhou, as part of Sudan’s participation in the conference and programme on development policy and digital transformation in Africa. The participation comes within the Ministry’s efforts to expand Sudan’s international technical partnerships and align them with national priorities for capacity building, digital infrastructure development, accelerating digital transformation and supporting the growth of Sudan’s digital economy. On the sidelines of the event, the Minister held talks with China’s Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology, focusing on expanding cooperation between the two countries in the fields of digital transformation, telecommunications and information technology, as well as capacity building, knowledge and expertise exchange, and strengthening cooperation between relevant institutions in both countries. The two sides discussed opportunities to develop their cooperation into practical initiatives supporting Sudan’s priorities in digital government, digital infrastructure, emerging technologies and the development of national talent, in addition to strengthening institutional engagement and continuing coordination between the two sides. In his address at the opening ceremony, the Minister welcomed the Chinese initiative to promote digital cooperation with African countries, affirming that technology has become a key driver of development and growth and that expanded digital cooperation offers genuine opportunities for capacity building, service development, youth empowerment and the promotion of innovation. He highlighted China’s leading experience and advanced capabilities in technology, telecommunications, artificial intelligence and digital government, expressing Sudan’s aspiration to expand cooperation and exchange expertise and knowledge in ways that support the country’s digital transformation priorities and open broader prospects for technical partnership between the two countries. The Minister also commended the role of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology in promoting China–Africa digital cooperation. He noted that the China–Africa Digital Technology Cooperation Center represents an important platform for knowledge exchange, capacity building and the development of new areas of cooperation in technology and innovation between China and African countries. He affirmed that Sudan would continue to expand its international technical partnerships and work to translate them into practical avenues of cooperation that contribute to building national capacities, developing digital infrastructure and supporting the implementation of the country’s digital transformation priorities.BH/BH
