The Government of Sudan on Thursday condemned the treacherous drone attack that targeted the Port of Damietta in the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, resulting in two vessels being struck.  In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Sudan described the incident as an unacceptable act of aggression, a violation of international law, and a serious threat to the security, safety, and stability of the region. The statement, released by the Office of the Official Spokesperson and the Media Directorate of the Ministry, expressed the Government of Sudan’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the attack on the Port of Damietta, reiterating that the targeting of the port and the two vessels constitutes a hostile act that violates international law and endangers regional peace and security. The statement affirmed Sudan’s full solidarity with and support for the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt in confronting any threat to its security, stability, sovereignty, or territorial integrity. It stressed that any threat to Egypt’s security is a threat to the security of the entire region. The Government of Sudan also reaffirmed its full support for all legitimate measures taken by the Arab Republic of Egypt to safeguard its national security, protect its vital infrastructure, and preserve its sovereignty, in accordance with international law and the Charter of the United Nations. The statement concluded by renewing Sudan’s call for respect for the sovereignty of states and for refraining from targeting civilian facilities, critical infrastructure, or jeopardizing the security of international navigation, in a manner that contributes to the preservation of regional and international peace and security.BH/BH
