KHARTOUM, May 21, 2026 (SUNA) – The Ministry of Digital Transformation and Telecommunications launched on Thursday “SUDAPASS”, Sudan’s national digital identity project. This strategic milestone aims to establish a secure and reliable national digital infrastructure, implemented through the Sudanese Cyber Security Authority and the National Electronic Certification Authority, in partnership with the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Civil Registry. “SUDAPASS” represents a significant paradigm shift, enabling citizens to gain secure and trusted access to both public and private services. It will facilitate electronic transactions and digital signatures, thereby streamlining procedures, maximizing operational efficiency, fostering digital trust, and driving Sudan’s digital economy. The Ministry emphasized that the project bolsters digital transformation efforts across government, banking, telecommunications, education, and healthcare sectors, as well as future services. This is achieved by providing a secure and credible digital identity rooted in international best practices and standards for cybersecurity and digital services. The rollout of “SUDAPASS” aligns with the ongoing efforts of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Telecommunications to build a modern digital ecosystem underpinned by digital trust, expand service accessibility, and enhance Sudan’s readiness to keep pace with rapid advancements in the digital economy and emerging technologies. The launching ceremony was attended by a number of government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, private sector representatives, and national experts—underscoring the vital importance of building a dependable digital infrastructure that secures the future of services and digital transformation in Sudan.BH/BH
