Sudan Participates in Arab Union for Exhibitions and Conferences General Assembly Meeting in Cairo

Cairo, May 22, 2026 (SUNA) – Sudan participated, along with 16 Arab countries, in the General Assembly meeting of the Arab Union for Exhibitions and Conferences held in Cairo, led by the Director of the Sudanese Free Zones and Markets Company, Engineer Hamdan Khalifa. The meeting renewed confidence in the re-election of Sheikh Jabr Al-Thani as President of the Union for a second term and elected vice presidents for different geographical regions, including the Head of the Sudan Exhibitions Chamber, Salah Omar Al-Sheikh, as Vice President for North and East Africa. The General Assembly approved the Union’s work plan and budget for the period from January to December 2026. The budget aims to strengthen Arab cooperation in exhibitions and conferences, develop training and professional qualification programmes, expand the Union’s international network, and launch initiatives to support the Arab exhibitions industry. The meeting issued recommendations focusing on strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing exhibitions, including launching a programme for joint Arab exhibitions and organizing regular joint Arab events. The recommendations also included enhancing the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurs in Arab exhibitions and Union activities, and forming a specialized committee for international relations and external promotion to expand partnerships and attract global cooperation.The Assembly also agreed on strengthening Arab–Chinese partnerships.BH/BH
