New York, June 30, 2026 (SUNA) — Sudan is participating with a high-level national delegation in the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Week 2026, held at the United Nations headquarters in New York from June 26 to July 2, 2026, under the theme: “A Future Free of Terrorism: Strengthening the Global Commitment to Multilateral and Stakeholder Approaches to Counter-Terrorism through Member States’ Leadership and Action.” The Sudanese delegation includes representatives from national entities concerned with counter-terrorism and national security, as part of Sudan’s commitment to enhancing international cooperation and exchanging expertise and best practices in the field of counter-terrorism and violent extremism, contributing to the promotion of regional and international peace and security. The delegation will participate in the Fourth High-Level Conference of Heads of Counter-Terrorism Agencies of Member States, in addition to sessions of the Ninth Review of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, as well as a number of specialized side events bringing together representatives of member states, international and regional organizations, academic institutions, civil society organizations, and the private sector. Sudan’s participation reaffirms its steadfast commitment to international efforts aimed at combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, drying up its sources, and strengthening cooperation and coordination among states in addressing transnational terrorist threats, in accordance with the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and relevant provisions of international law. The participation also represents an opportunity to highlight national efforts undertaken by Sudanese state institutions in the field of counter-terrorism and violent extremism, and to strengthen international partnerships supporting capacity-building, the development of cooperation mechanisms, and the exchange of information and expertise, in a way that serves security, stability, and sustainable development at both national and international levels.BH/BH
