NEW YORK (SUNA) – Minister Plenipotentiary Faisal Abdel-Azim Salem reiterated Sudan’s rejection of the allegations, noting that the United States had refused to send a technical team to conduct a joint investigation or submit any available evidence to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). He considered the US refusal to cooperate an indication of its desire to exert political pressure on the Sudanese government. Salem also reaffirmed Sudan’s unequivocal commitment to the Chemical Weapons Convention, noting that Sudan’s membership in the OPCW Executive Council further underscored this commitment. He concluded by stressing that the allegations remained unsubstantiated until verified, and called on countries to refrain from circulating such accusations until their validity had been established, at the very least.BH/BH
