Sudanese Ambassador in Baghdad Meets Iraqi Agriculture Minister

BAGHDAD, Aug. 11, 2026 (SUNA) – Sudanese Ambassador to Iraq Abdel-Rahim Sir-Al-Khatem on Tuesday met Iraqi Minister of Agriculture Dr. Abdul-Rahim Jassim Al-Shammari to discuss agricultural cooperation between the two countries. The ambassador briefed the Iraqi minister on developments in Sudan and the recent advances achieved by the Sudanese Armed Forces and supporting forces. He also highlighted Sudan’s agricultural map and vast livestock resources, which have enabled the country to export both live and slaughtered meat to regional and international markets. The ambassador delivered a written message from Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries Professor Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri congratulating the Iraqi minister on his appointment a Minister for Agriculture and expressing Sudan’s interest in strengthening bilateral relations, particularly investment in Sudanese meat exports to the Iraqi market. He also invited the minister to visit Sudan and learn about its experience in the sector, including a visit to a livestock production city. For his part, the Iraqi minister welcomed the ambassador and accompanying delegation, praising the strong relations between the two countries and their peoples. He expressed Iraq’s readiness to expand engagement with Sudan, particularly in meat imports, and said his ministry had begun arrangements for a technical delegation to visit Sudan to explore areas of cooperation in the agricultural and livestock sectors.BH/BH
