Sudan’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Mohamed Al-Ghazali Siraj, met on Friday morning with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko.  The ambassador provided a comprehensive briefing on political and security developments in Sudan, highlighting efforts by state institutions to normalize life in the country and return all institutions to their headquarters in Khartoum to resume their duties. He also discussed ongoing preparations for the Sudanese national dialogue. The ambassador further outlined developments on the ground, the progress of the Sudanese Armed Forces across the various theatres of operations, and the logistical support received by the militia and the opening of supply routes to it through some of Sudan’s neighboring countries. The meeting also addressed cooperation and coordination in international forums, particularly at the UN Security Council and regarding Sudan’s inclusion on its agenda. The ambassador expressed appreciation for Russia’s supportive position towards Sudan, particularly its rejection of equating the Sudanese Armed Forces with the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. The meeting also discussed the upcoming Russia–Africa Summit scheduled for October. Ambassador Mohamed Al-Ghazali referred to the ongoing preparations for the summit and Sudan’s planned participation through a delegation headed by the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC). Deputy Minister Borisenko expressed Russia’s interest in developments in Sudan and endorsed the positive developments in Sudan’s political arena and the launch of a Sudanese dialogue, describing the step as important for the country’s stability. He said Russia looked forward to the active participation of the Sudanese delegation, led by President Al-Burhan, in the summit’s events. Borisenko reaffirmed the strength and solidity of bilateral relations between the two countries and Russia’s firm support for Sudan in international forums in a manner that serves the interests of both friendly countries and preserves Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, particularly in the context of UN Security Council deliberations on Sudan.BH/BH
