Khartoum, August 21, 2026 (SUNA) — President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, met with a number of sheikhs and leaders of Sufi orders in Sudan. During the meeting, the sheikhs and leaders of the Sufi orders affirmed their support for the state and the Armed Forces, expressing their backing for government efforts to restore security and stability and preserve Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity. The Sufi leaders congratulated the President of the Sovereignty Council and the Sudanese people on the return of the government and state institutions to the capital, Khartoum, describing the move as marking the beginning of a new phase aimed at restoring normal life and strengthening stability across the country. The Sufi order leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to promoting social peace and supporting reconciliation and community cohesion efforts, contributing to the achievement of security, stability, and peace throughout Sudan.BH/BH
