Amman, Aug. 18 (Petra) — A suspect has confessed to killing a woman
in her 60s in Irbid, the Public Security Directorate (PSD)
spokesperson said Tuesday.

The spokesperson said the suspect had no apparent connection to the
victim, whose disappearance was reported to the Irbid Police
Directorate on August 11.

Following the report, a specialized investigation team was formed to
establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s disappearance.
Investigators gathered information about the victim and identified a
person suspected of involvement in the case.

The team also determined the area where the woman was last known to
have been and searched the location, leading to the discovery of her
body in an uninhabited agricultural area.

Initial findings indicated that the woman had been killed after being
struck with a blunt object, the spokesperson said.

During questioning, the suspect confessed to killing the woman by
striking her on the head with a stone, according to the spokesperson.
The investigation remains ongoing ahead of referring the case to the
judiciary.
