Tafilah, Sep. 10 (Petra) – The Tafilah Governorate, in cooperation with government institutions, municipalities, and environmental organizations, on Wednesday launched the first clean-up campaign under the “With Our Hands, We Protect Our Environment” initiative.
The campaign commenced with large-scale waste removal along the ring road linking the al-Ays area to central Tafilah, a corridor facing repeated environmental violations, including the dumping of solid, livestock, and construction waste.
Assistant Governor of Tafilah, Shaish Majali, highlighted that the campaign reflects an integrated effort to instill environmental stewardship, reduce indiscriminate waste disposal, and reinforce monitoring of recreational, tourist, and environmentally sensitive areas. He noted that additional campaigns will be implemented in the coming weeks as part of a structured program targeting public parks, tourist sites, and green spaces, with the participation of schools and youth centers.
