Amman, May 13 (Petra) – Minister of Education, Dr. Azmi Mahafzeh, stressed the importance of the ministry’s current e-connectivity and protection project implemented, in cooperation with Umniah, a Jordanian mobile network operator.

This project aims to provide the “necessary” infrastructure to deliver Internet services to classrooms, which would contributE to the use of modern technology to enhance “efficiency” of the Kingdom’s educational process.

During a meeting with Umniah CEO, Faisal Jalahma, Mahafzeh praised the ministry’s cooperation and partnership relations with public and private sector institutions, noting their importance in supporting the education sector.

Mahafzeh stated the existing cooperation with Umniah constitutes an “important” step in developing and automating the Kingdom’s education sector and “modernizing” its methods.

Hoping the experiment would succeed and achieve the desired goals, he added that automation of general secondary school certificate (Tawjihi) exams would contribute to improve “efficiency” of the educational process and increase access to learning services for all students across the Kingdom.

Additionally, he hoped the partnership with Umniah will “set an example of cooperation” with the Kingdom’s public and private sectors.

Under the tender previously floated, Umniah will install devices in 500 schools and implement projects in 800 classrooms and laboratories across Jordan.
