Amman, December 28 (Petra) The Income and Sales Tax Department on Sunday began sending text messages to taxpayers eligible for tax refunds for 2024, informing them that 40% of their refunds had been transferred to their bank account IBANs.
The messages were sent to approximately 103,000 taxpayers out of a total of 116,000 eligible recipients. These included around 96,000 employees and staff members, as well as 7,000 individual taxpayers who met the eligibility requirements, including the payment of withheld taxes and the validity of their bank account numbers.
Director General of the Income and Sales Tax Department Hussam Abu Ali said the remaining 60% of the refunds will be prioritised during the first months of 2026.
He added that the department will coordinate with the Ministry of Finance to expedite the disbursement of the remaining amounts to all eligible taxpayers.
