Amman, Aug 17 (Petra) – Social Development Minister Wafaa Bani
Mustafa on Monday launched the “They See” initiative, a partnership
with the “Optikos Al Shami” Center, to improve eye health for
residents of shelters through conducting eye tests and offering
eyeglasses to those in need.

“They See initiative is a shining example of community partnership
and a true embodiment of responsibility, solidarity, and giving,”
said Bani Mustafa, who sponsored the launch ceremony for the first
phase, which includes eye exams for 1,000 orphans and those without
family support.

“Sight is not merely a sense, but a window to life and an essential
tool for learning, knowledge, communication, independence, and
quality of life,” she said.

The minister said the initiative stems from a noble humanitarian
goal: preserving the eye health of residents in shelters and
improving the services provided to them.

She said the initiative encompasses various beneficiaries of shelter
services, including children, women, the elderly, people with
disabilities, and all other groups receiving care and services at
multiple stages.

Rami Al-Azzeh, General Manager of “Optikos Al-Shami” Center, said the
“They See” stems from the center’s belief in its role in serving the
community and improving the quality of life for the most vulnerable
groups.

The initiative, he said, aims to reach beneficiaries of shelters,
provide them with specialized eye tests, and supply eyeglasses to
those who need them.
