Amman, Dec. 26 (Petra)– Despite the increased security and limitations imposed by Israeli occupation forces in and around occupied Jerusalem, tens of thousands of worshipers performed Friday prayer at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Palestinian media sites stated that 60,000 worshipers performed Friday prayer at Al-Aqsa Mosque, according to the Islamic Awqaf Department in Jerusalem.
The gates of the Old City and the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, as well as military checkpoints throughout the city, were tightly manned by Israeli occupation soldiers.
In addition to stopping scores of young men, checking their identification, and preventing several of them from praying at Al-Aqsa Mosque, the forces built metal barriers around the Old City and the mosque.
