Amman, March 25 (QNA) – Three children died Wednesday after drowning in Irbid Governorate in northern Jordan, amid heavy rainfall affecting the country in recent hours.
Jordan’s Public Security Directorate said in a statement that Civil Defense operations in western Irbid received a report that three children, two aged seven and one aged 10, had drowned in an agricultural pond in the Sulaikhat/Al Karima area.
Authorities urged the public to stay away from valleys, floodwater, water bodies, agricultural ponds, and flowing water channels, and to closely monitor children and prevent them from approaching such areas to avoid similar incidents.
The Meteorological Department had earlier reported that radar images showed rainfall of moderate to heavy intensity, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, raising the risk of flash floods and rising water levels in valleys and low-lying areas. (QNA)
