Total
Refinery Products in Oman Exceed 129 Million Barrels
Muscat,
13 Sep 2026 (ONA) — Total refinery products in the Sultanate of Oman reached
129,083,200 barrels by the end of last July, a decrease of 3.7 percent compared
to the same period in 2025.
The
latest preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and
Information (NCSI) indicated a decrease in total automotive fuel production by
1.4 percent by the end of July 2026. The statistics also showed a decline in
regular automotive fuel (M91) production by 4.5 percent to reach 9,629,700
barrels by the end of July 2026, compared to 10,088,600 barrels during the same
period in 2025. Its sales also decreased by 4.6 percent to record 10,038,800
barrels compared to the same period in 2025, while its exports increased by 9.8
percent to reach 1,984,500 barrels.
On
the other hand, production of premium automotive fuel (M95) rose by 2.6 percent
by the end of July 2026 to reach 8,319,200 barrels, compared to 8,108,800
barrels during the same period in 2025. Meanwhile, its sales fell by 10.6
percent to reach 8,855,100 barrels, compared to 9,899,900 barrels. Its exports
also dropped by 33.9 percent to reach 362,900 barrels, compared to 549,100
barrels.
Gas
oil (diesel) production recorded a decline of 6.8 percent by the end of July
2026 to reach 43,305,400 barrels, compared to 46,475,500 barrels during the
same period in 2025. Its sales also dropped by 8.3 percent to reach 11,112,700
barrels, compared to 12,116,800 barrels, and its exports fell by 11.8 percent
to record 33,326,500 barrels, compared to 377,782,500 barrels.
Aviation
fuel production saw an increase of 12 percent by the end of July 2026 to reach
16,788,400 barrels, compared to 14,988,200 barrels during the same period in
2025. Meanwhile, its sales fell by 9.2 percent to reach 2,567,600 barrels,
compared to 2,827,400 barrels, while its exports rose by 27.4 percent to reach
14,516,800 barrels, compared to 11,390,700 barrels.
Liquefied
Petroleum Gas (LPG) production fell by 3.3 percent by the end of July 2026 to
reach 6,456,200 barrels, compared to 6,677,700 barrels during the same period
in 2025. Its sales also decreased by 22 percent to reach 1,764,500 barrels,
compared to 2,261,700 barrels. Conversely, its exports recorded a 3.9 percent
increase to reach 2,057,300 barrels, compared to 1,980,300 barrels.
Conversely,
naphtha production rose by 4.5 percent by the end of July 2026 to reach
22,609,400 barrels, compared to 21,646,000 barrels during the same period in
2025. Its sales also increased by 3.2 percent to record 8,333,800 barrels,
compared to 8,075,700 barrels, and its exports increased by 2.6 percent to
reach 14,658,100 barrels, compared to 144,283,100 barrels.
On
the other hand, production of other refinery products dropped by 15.9 percent
to reach 21,974,900 barrels by the end of July 2026, compared to 26,121,700
barrels during the same period in 2025. Its sales also declined by 21.7 percent
to reach 18,316,800 barrels, compared to 23,407,000 barrels, while its exports
decreased by 3.1 percent to reach 5,615,700 barrels, compared to 5,795,600
barrels.
In
the petrochemicals sector, statistics showed a 7.3 percent increase in benzene
production by the end of July 2026 to reach 109,900 metric tonnes, compared to
102,400 metric tonnes during the same period in 2025. Its exports also rose by
11.3 percent to reach 108,000 metric tonnes.
Paraxylene
production also recorded a growth of 9.6 percent to reach 370,500 metric tonnes
by the end of July 2026, compared to 338,000 metric tonnes during the same
period in 2025, while its exports rose by 1.7 percent to reach 372,400 metric
tonnes, compared to 366,100 metric tonnes.
Meanwhile,
polypropylene production decreased by 25.4 percent to reach 149,900 metric
tonnes, compared to 200,800 metric tonnes during the same period in 2025. Despite
the decline in production, polypropylene sales rose by 32.1 percent to reach
23,500 metric tonnes, compared to 177,800 metric tonnes. Conversely, its
exports fell by 17.9 percent to reach 122,300 metric tonnes, compared to
148,900 metric tonnes.
