TSC Member Dr. Nowara: Yass Pass Project Embodies Sudanese Unity, Solidarity

Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Dr. Nowara Abu Mohamed Tahir, affirmed that the Yas Pass opening project on the road linking the Red Sea and River Nile states embodies the values of national unity and solidarity among all components of the Sudanese people, as well as developmental openness at a time when Sudan is facing challenges related to hate speech. She stressed, during her inspection on Saturday of the works on the Yas Pass opening project on the Port Sudan–Abu Hamad Road, the government’s commitment to providing and mobilizing all types of equipment required for the project until its completion. She expressed her appreciation to all supporting bodies and institutions, particularly the mining, ports, and customs sectors, calling on other institutions to contribute to this development effort. The TSC Member described native administrations as the main driving force behind the work, praising their silent and diligent efforts, and affirming that their support strengthens the spirit of achievement. Dr. Nowara expressed her pride and strong confidence in the engineers and skilled personnel from Eastern Sudan who are working under the most difficult conditions. She announced her commitment to fully finance the water harvesting project at 100%, calling on the Vice-Chancellor of the Red Sea University to adopt the project scientifically and develop it in cooperation with youth and relevant stakeholders. She further announced that the TSC President has expressed full readiness to support the Yas Pass project with all necessary equipment through existing government institutions to ensure the quality and completion of the work. The Wali (governor) of the Red Sea State, Lt. Gen. Mustafa Mohamed Nour, stated that official directives have been issued by the Prime Minister to include the project among national projects in the upcoming budget, with the Roads and Bridges Unit tasked with paving it entirely from its starting point to Abu Hamad, under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport, the Council of Ministers, and the Sovereign Council. He noted that the road is a vital axis linking the River Nile and Red Sea states, serving Sudan in general and Al-Qanab and Al-Olib localities in particular by connecting their mountainous areas to the coastal regions. The Director of the Yas Pass project, Engineer Mohamed Al-Amin Haikal, explained that the project is located 43 kilometers from Port Sudan and 425 kilometers from Abu Hamad, which will serve as the endpoint of the road. He indicated that the geographical length of the pass section is 3 kilometers, with 2,300 meters already prepared, and that the “Northern Corridor Company” has begun asphalt paving works there. He expected that asphalt works approved by TSC President would commence at the beginning of next June, noting that the road represents a vital artery and an important alternative logistical route for the country in the event of any crises.
