TSC Member Nowara Abu Mohamed Stresses Combating Smuggling to Protect National Economy

KHARTOUM, July 29, 2026 (SUNA) – Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Dr. Nowara Abu Mohamed Tahir stressed the need to combat the smuggling of narcotics, gold, and prohibited goods to protect the national economy and society and boost state revenues. During a meeting on Wednesday with the Director General of the Sudan Customs Force, Lt. Gen. (Police) Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, she reaffirmed the state’s support for customs through the provision of equipment and resources to strengthen its operational capacity in coordination with relevant authorities. The Customs Director General said he briefed the TSC member on the force’s recent performance, particularly in training, capacity-building, and social responsibility through humanitarian and medical convoys to camps and hospitals. He also affirmed the force’s readiness to intensify anti-smuggling efforts, increase state revenues, and support the national economy.BH/BH
