The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, has awarded the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Sudan, Hani Salah, the Order of the Two Niles, First Class, on the occasion of the conclusion of his term of service in Sudan. The award was presented during Al-Burhan’s meeting with the Egyptian ambassador on Wednesday, in the presence of Foreign Minister Ambassador Mohi-Eddin Salem. In a press statement, Ambassador Hani Salah said he was pleased to be received in the same place where he had presented his credentials four years ago. He explained that the restoration of the Republican Palace represents a symbol of national sovereignty, noting that while Sudan faces many challenges, it has also achieved numerous successes and accomplishments, foremost among them the restoration of the Republican Palace as a symbol of sovereignty. The Egyptian ambassador added that the Order of the Two Niles was not an honor for him personally, but rather an honor for the Arab Republic of Egypt, referring to the eternal and historic relations that bind the two brotherly peoples. Ambassador Hani further explained that during the meeting, he delivered a written message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to his brother, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, concerning the promotion and development of joint cooperation between the two countries. He noted that the Egyptian President reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Sudan during the critical period it is going through. The Egyptian ambassador added that, through his new position as Assistant Foreign Minister for Sudan and South Sudan Affairs, he would work to build on what had been accomplished during the past period, expressing his hope that the coming phase would be one of peace, reconstruction and development.BH/BH
