TSC President Meets Sudan Football Association Delegation

KHARTOUM, June 9, 2026 (SUNA) — President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, on Tuesday met with a delegation from the Sudan Football Association (SFA) headed by its president, Dr. Mua’tasim Jaafar. The meeting reviewed the role of sports in fostering stability across the country. Speaking to the press, Dr. Mua’tasim Jaafar said the meeting discussed the significant contributions of sports in supporting the voluntary return of citizens to their areas of residence. He affirmed the role of athletes in reinforcing security and stability in Khartoum State, noting that such efforts send positive signals domestically and internationally and underscore the State’s commitment to youth and sports, particularly football. The President of the Football Association said the meeting also addressed the need to support national teams and develop sports infrastructure to facilitate the organization of matches and competitions among clubs. He added that the TSC President pledged to remove all impediments facing the country’s sports sector in order to create a safe and conducive environment for hosting national team training camps and rehabilitating six stadiums across Sudan during the 2026–2027 season. Dr. Jaafar further said the TSC President pledged to continue efforts aimed at maximizing the use of sports infrastructure to enable youth to engage in various sporting activities. He also commended the valuable contributions made by Sudanese youth in the Battle of Dignity and highlighted the major role played by the Sudan Football Association in supporting and backing the Armed Forces.BH/BH
