TSC Vice-President Briefs Ambassadors and Diplomatic Missions in Juba on Developments in Sudan

Juba, Jan. 27, 2026 (SUNA) – Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Malik Agar, met today in the capital of the Republic of South Sudan with ambassadors, diplomatic missions, and representatives of the African Union (AU) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in Eastern Africa accredited to Juba.During the meeting, Agar briefed the envoys on the humanitarian situation in Sudan, the ongoing victories of the Armed Forces on the combat fronts, and the steps underway to restore ministries and sovereign institutions to Khartoum.Agar noted that the discussions also addressed international and regional initiatives, which so far have fallen short of what is required to establish lasting peace in Sudan. The TSC Vice-President highlighted the complacency and cooperation of some neighbouring countries with the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and cross-border mercenaries, despite the collapse of the militia’s initial claims that its offensive was a “democratic” war against the central authority. These claims were exposed following the massacres of the Masalit people in West Darfur and citizens of El-Fashir, as well as the militia’s false assertion that it was waging a war against Islamists to appeal to certain Gulf and Western countries. He emphasized that the war’s true aim was occupation and settlement to serve the interests of other countries, not the Sudanese people. While life has largely returned to areas vacated by the rebel militia, Agar noted that attacks on public service facilities continue. The TSC Vice-President ruled out the possibility of a peace agenda for Sudan being set without the participation of Sudan itself, underlining that the country has been left alone in this war. He affirmed, however, that Sudan will prevail through the will of its people, who remain committed to progress and prosperity.BH/BH
