Port Sudan, April 19, 2026 (SUNA) — Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Malik Agar, met on Sunday with a Swiss delegation, in the presence of Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Ambassador Sylvain Astié; Chargé d’Affaires for Sudan, Dr. Andreas Baum; representatives of Swiss embassies in Kenya and Egypt; Deputy Head of Mission at the Swiss Embassy in Egypt, Ambassador Thomas Baumgartner; and Deputy Head of the Cooperation Division for Sudan, Ms. Catherine. Agar welcomed the visit, describing it as a farewell to Ambassador Astié following the conclusion of his assignment on Sudan and the Horn of Africa. He provided a detailed briefing on internal developments related to the humanitarian and political files, affirming that the incoming envoy will receive full support and cooperation from the Sudanese government, particularly in light of Switzerland’s clear positions on the Sudanese issue.“We will remain committed to the pursuit of peace and open to any dialogue, provided it does not jeopardize Sudan’s unity and national security,” he stated.BH/BH
