A Turkish delegation visiting the National Medical Supplies Fund (NMSF) on Tuesday discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation in the provision of medicines, medical supplies and equipment, as well as the renewal and activation of the bilateral agreement previously signed between Sudan and Türkiye. The delegation held a meeting with the Fund’s Director General, Dr. Badr-Eddin El-Jozouli, attended by directors of the Fund’s various departments. The meeting discussed areas of cooperation and mechanisms for activating and implementing the agreement to support medical supplies and meet health needs.  Dr. El-Jozouli outlined the work of the Fund’s various departments, explaining that the National Medical Supplies Fund is the government institution responsible for providing and distributing medicines, medical supplies and equipment to all states through its branches. He also reviewed the extensive damage inflicted on the Fund’s warehouses and assets during the war, including the complete destruction of several warehouses and the loss of equipment, machinery and vehicles. He noted that the effects of the war extended to the Fund’s facilities at both the central and state levels. The Director General stressed the importance of renewing and activating the bilateral agreement between Sudan and Türkiye as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation in medical supplies and benefit from Turkish expertise and capabilities in supporting recovery and rebuilding the health sector. The head of the Turkish delegation affirmed his country’s readiness to provide the necessary support to the Fund and contribute to implementing the agreement. He stressed the importance of preparing a clear list of medical needs and priorities and submitting it through the relevant authorities for the necessary action. The meeting comes within the framework of the National Medical Supplies Fund’s efforts to expand its partnerships with international and regional institutions and strengthen technical and logistical cooperation to support sustainable medical supplies and meet the needs of the health sector across Sudan.BH/BH
