Ankara, August 12 (QNA) – Turkiye has denounced Colombia’s decision to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs vehemently condemned Colombia’s declaration to legitimize the Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights, stressing that the Golan is utterly inseparable from Syria.
The Ministry emphasized that individual attempts of this sort, which gravely violate international law, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 497, lack any legal value.
The statement reiterated its call upon the international community to assume its responsibilities and put an end to the Israeli occupation of Syrian territories, including the Golan Heights, along with the attacks on the nation’s sovereignty and stability.
The Ministry further stressed that Turkiye would continue to support safeguarding the unity of Syrian territories and sovereignty, in addition to consolidating enduring peace and stability in the country.
On Aug. 10, the Colombian government declared its recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, which is occupied Syrian territory. (QNA)
