UAE condemns Iranian missile attack on ADNOC tanker in Strait of Hormuz

Abu Dhabi, Aug. 8 (Petra) — The United Arab Emirates strongly
condemned and denounced an aggressive Iranian attack targeting a
vessel belonging to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) with a
missile while passing through the Strait of Hormuz. No casualties
were reported.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign
Affairs described the attack as a blatant violation of UN Security
Council Resolution 2817, which underscores the freedom of navigation
and explicitly rejects targeting commercial ships or disrupting
international maritime corridors.

The ministry emphasized that targeting commercial shipping and
utilizing the Strait of Hormuz as a tool for economic pressure or
blackmail constitutes acts of piracy by the Iranian Islamic
Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), posing a direct threat to regional
stability, its populations, and global energy security.

The UAE stressed the necessity for Iran to halt these aggressive
attacks, fully adhere to stopping all hostilities, and
unconditionally reopen the strait to ensure regional security and
safeguard global trade and the international economy.
