Amman, May 26 (Petra) – The University of Jordan (UJ) and the United States’ Brigham Young University (BYU) have renewed their bilateral cooperation agreement, aiming to strengthen academic and research ties and broaden scientific and cultural exchange between the two institutions.

The agreement was signed by the president of the University of Jordan, Nathir Obeidat, and the associate international vice president at Brigham Young University, Jeffrey Ringer.

The renewed agreement seeks to expand student and faculty exchange programs, foster joint research initiatives, and support the organization of conferences, workshops, and academic activities that promote mutual understanding and academic collaboration. It also includes provisions for postgraduate study opportunities at Brigham Young University for graduates of the University of Jordan.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Obeidat emphasized the importance of the partnership in creating quality opportunities for students and faculty members. He praised the longstanding relationship between the two institutions and expressed hope to expand cooperation into broader fields of mutual interest.

Ringer, for his part, reaffirmed BYU’s commitment to deepening and continuing its collaboration with the University of Jordan, describing the university as a key strategic partner.

The agreement also facilitates short-term academic and training programs for Brigham Young University students at the University of Jordan, particularly in Arabic language and Middle Eastern studies. It includes opportunities for volunteer work within community initiatives led by the University of Jordan, contributing to greater cultural understanding among students from both sides.
