London, Sept 29 (Petra) – British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said on Monday that Israel’s prevention of the entry of essential food and medicine to the Gaza Strip a “moral disgrace.”
In a speech at the Labour Party’s annual conference in Liverpool, Cooper stressed that Britain’s recognition of the State of Palestine embodies a commitment to the two-state solution as the only way to achieve security and lasting peace for both Palestinians and Israelis.
“The establishment of a Palestinian state is an inalienable right of the Palestinian people,” she said, adding that the UK is working with international partners to advance efforts toward a ceasefire and the establishment of a just and lasting peace in the region.
