London, July 8 (Petra) – British Foreign Secretary David Lammy has warned that the UK could impose additional sanctions on Israel if a ceasefire is not reached in Gaza within the coming weeks.
According to a report published Tuesday by The Independent, Lammy told the UK Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee that the ongoing situation is “untenable.”
Lammy declined to set a timeline for Britain’s recognition of a Palestinian state, saying such a move “requires a careful judgment based on realities on the ground.”
The UK government recently sanctioned two far-right Israeli ministers over human rights violations.
